Use this Psalm Sunday School lesson to teach kids that God is always with them.
Needed: a rock, a tree visible from a window or a picture of a tree
Ask students, What are some things that last forever?
(Show students a large tree.) Will this tree last forever?
No, the tree could fall down in a storm or get chopped down for some reason, or it will die when it gets old.
(Show students a rock.) What about this rock? Will last forever?
No, this rock will eventually break into smaller rocks and then into sand.
What about people? Do people last forever?
People don't last forever as we are because our bodies get sick or hurt or old and we die, don't we?
(Discuss some of the students other suggestions from your opening question.)
The only thing that lasts forever just as He is, is God. God has always been here and God will never die.
And
that means that when you were born, God was there with you. As you're
growing up, God is always with you. And when you get old and die, God
will still be with you and will take you to Heaven.
God lasts forever so He will always be with us.
Let's pray about that.
Sample
prayer: God, we thank You that You are strong and that You love us and
that You are always with us, no matter what. In Jesus' name we pray.
