Nimrod, Mighty Hunter before the Lord - Devotion on Genesis 10

Scripture: Genesis 10:8-12
Cush was the father of Nimrod, who became a mighty warrior on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Uruk, Akkad and Kalneh, in Shinar. 11 From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah—which is the great city.

In Genesis 10:8-12, we read that Nimrod was a mighty hunter who accomplished the building of an empire. He was called "mighty before the Lord" for his skill and accomplishments.

For what do you want to be known as being "mighty before the Lord"? What skills has He given you? What situation has He placed you in? What can you accomplish in life to be known as "mighty before the Lord"?

If you use the talents God has given you to the best of your ability, God might see you as being a "mighty mother before the Lord" or a "mighty winner of souls" before the Lord or "a mighty home remodeler before the Lord."

Notice that Nimrod's mightiness wasn't accredited to anything spiritual he did. Our mightiness before the Lord doesn't have to be spiritual only. If you're using what God has given you to the best of your abilities and in good conscience, He will take pleasure in you using what He's given you.

So, do what you do best to the glory of God and know that He calls you "mighty before the Lord."
