The Boy Jesus Staying at the Temple Sunday School Lesson

Use this Boy Jesus at the Temple Sunday School lesson to teach children about the importance of the church.

Ask children, How many of you like coming to church?

Ask congregation, How many of you like coming to church?

I like coming to church, and do you know who else liked going to church? Jesus!

The Bible tells us that one time, when Jesus was twelve years old, His parents took Him to the Temple, the church, but then, when Mary and Joseph were walking home from church with all of their relatives, they couldn't find Jesus. He was missing!

They looked all over the city for Him and finally found Him at the Temple. Jesus liked church so much that He had never left when church was over. He just stayed there, talking to the teachers about God.

So when we come to church, and we talk to our pastors and teachers about God, we're being like Jesus, aren't we? He liked to go to church and learn about God, and so do we!

Let's pray about that.

Sample prayer: Father God, thank You for this church where we can come and learn about You. Thank You for our pastors and teachers and everyone here who helps us learn more and more about You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
