Sermon on the Mount Sunday School Lesson - Blessed are the Meek

Use this Sermon on the Mount Sunday School lesson to teach kids to be humble in Christ.

Needed: Bibles

Lesson: (Note: Always allow students to give their answers to the questions before you clarify the teaching.)

Brag about everything you can for a few moments.

Ask, How did you like it when I was doing all that bragging?

Have you ever known someone who bragged all the time?

Do you think God wants us to brag?

Read Matthew 5:5 – Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (NIV).

What does it mean to be “meek”?

To be meek means to be humble, to not brag, to not fight with other people. Jesus says that if we will be like that, if we will be meek, He will give us the earth, the whole world, when He comes back.

Why do you think God doesn’t want us to brag? Bragging makes other people feel bad. Also, we shouldn’t be making ourselves sound great. We should be making God sound great. The Bible says that if we want to brag, we should brag about how good God is.
