Use this Parable of the Sower Sunday School lesson to teach children about the need to tell others about God.
Needed: (Optional - Plant, seeds)
Ask students, Where do plants come from? (Seeds)
Someone plants a seed and the plant starts to grow from that seed. Then
the plant makes more seeds so that more plants can grow from those
Jesus said that we're kind of like that. When
someone tells us about God and Jesus, it's like they're planting a seed
in us. If we believe in God and Jesus, then it's like we're growing into
a plant. And when we tell other people about God and Jesus, then it's
like we're planting new seeds in someone else so that maybe they can
believe in God and Jesus too! It just keeps going, with more and people
believing and growing into spiritual plants.
volunteer). To better show you how this works, let's pretend that I just
told this person about God and Jesus. I'm planting a seed in them. They
believe in God and Jesus so now they're a plant. Next, they're going
tell other people about God and Jesus and plant seeds in them. (Have
your volunteer tag three other children.)
three more people have had seeds planted in them and they grow into
plants because they believe in God and Jesus too. (Have those three tag
three more children each.)
Great. Now let's of people
are starting to believe in God and Jesus. Everyone who has been tagged
already go tag as many people as you can, your friends and the rest of
the church sitting down.
When someone tells us about
God and Jesus, it's like they're planting a seed in us. When it grows,
we believe in God and Jesus and start planting seeds in other people
that that they can believe too.
Let's pray about that.
prayer: Father God, we thank You for sending someone to tell us about
You and we thank You for helping us to believe in You. We pray that You
will help us to tell other people about You so that they can believe in
You too. Amen.
