Brief:
We can leave God to punish others if He needs to while we continue to act
rightly.
Intro
Question
Who was the last
person who did something wrong to you? What was it?
What did you do in
response?
Have you ever seen
God punish someone? How so?
We’ve been reading
about how King Saul wants to kill David because he knows David is more popular
than he is and that God has chosen David to be king after him.
Scripture: 1 Samuel 24:1-12
What would you do if
you were David in this situation?
Why does David say
that he won’t kill Saul?
David says in verse
11 that he doesn’t want to be guilty of doing anything wrong. Just because Saul
is doing something wrong to him doesn’t mean that he has to do something wrong
to Saul.
How does David say
that Saul will be punished?
David says he will
let God punish Saul, not himself.
What can you learn
from David’s example?
We can follow David’s
example by making sure that we’re not doing something wrong to someone else,
even if they’re doing something wrong to us. We can continue to act rightly and
let God punish them if they need to be punished.
